National Pharmacy Week Celebrations World Diabetes Day- 2017

The School of Pharmacy- Guru Nanak Institutions Technical Campus, Ibrahimpatnam, Hyderabad has successfully organized a Pharma Rally on 14th Nov, 2017 on the eve of World Diabetes Day and as a part of country wide celebrations of National Pharmacy week. 
The rally was conducted from GNITC campus to Khanapur village, Ibrahimpatnam. Subsequently a health awareness program was organized at Khanapur village in association with Omni hospitals, wherein activities like RBS (Random Blood Sugar), BP Check up, BMI & General physician consultations, were undertaken for the residents of Khanapur village.
The program was co-ordinated by Dr. T. Lakshmi Rao, Professor, along with General Manager Omni Hospitals, Counselor of Khanapur village, V. Balakrishna and Deepak Pawar  staff of School of Pharmacy. A large number of students of Pharm. D and B .Pharm were associated as a part of their academic activity in the form of field work. The program was planned by Dr. P.Suresh, Associate Director, School of Pharmacy under the valuable guidance and active supervision of   Dr. H S Saini, Managing Director GNI and Dr. M. Ramalinga Reddy, Director GNITC, under the blessings of Sardar G. S Kohli, Vice Chairman, GNI.
The rally was flagged off by Prof. P. Parthasarthy, Associate Director-I and Prof R.K Singh, Associate Director-II GNITC. Prof M.Venkata Ramana Reddy, Dr.Sajal Kumar Jha and all faculty of pharmacy were present. The Health Awareness Programme was inaugurated by Mrs. Swapna the counselor of Khanapur village. 
More than 150 persons of the village have availed the benefit of the programme and got checked up by the Doctors. The student pharmacists played a key role in Health Awareness Programme. Generic medicines were distributed free of cost to the patients on the prescription of Physicians.
On the eve of children’s day an activity was also planned for the benefit of school children of khanapur village, wherein posters on health conscious activities, malnutrition, common diseases were displayed with detailed discussion and were educated on the importance of good eating habits to aware them about the malnutrition.
